THE CASE FOR CHRIS LEBEN

Frankly, regardless of who wins, I’m expecting this to be a tough match. Leben can take some serious punishment and still keep coming and he hits hard and fast. He may have lost seven fights in a 32 fight MMA career, but that sells him short. He’s got a well rounded game and seriously underrated submission skills. Leben, despite the odds, is more than capable of winning this fight. For me, this is more of a mental challenge for Leben than a physical one.

THE CASE FOR WANDERLEI SILVA

The fact that Silva has won only 2 of his last 7 fights hasn’t stopped him being favorite to win this fight. And that’s fair enough – Silva has dropped down to middleweight for this fight and that is a more natural weight for him to fight at.

Silva’s main strength is how aggressive a fighter he is. This is one man who isn’t messing around in the cage. More well informed writers than myself say he has excellent Ju-Jitsu skills but these have rarely been in evidence because of the way he fights.

As is in keeping with this site, I’m a betting man, but I’m not putting money on this one. If I had to make a pick, I’d take Leben to emerge victorious after 3 rounds. I think a few dollars on Leben to win would be a good bet. He may be the underdog here, but if he can shake off the effects of his defeat to Anderson Silva last time out, he could do it.
