THE CASE FOR MATT HAMILL

Last time out Hamill (10-2) won an impressive points decision against Tito Ortiz and, as lightheavyweights go, he is one of the most versatile performers. His wrestling background means he has great takedown skills but he has improved his all round skills to a point where both his kicking and his striking are becoming more potent weapons.

If Hamill could get this fight to go to ground, he is in with a chance of winning, but he needs to mix it up in the early rounds to compete with the bigger and stronger Jackson. THE CASE FOR RAMPAGE JACKSON

Quinton Jackson (31-8) is not only the stronger man, he is also vastly more experienced and around two years younger than Hamill. Having moved up from middleweight to light heavyweight, only decision losses to Forrest Griffin and Rashad Evans have revealed chinks in his armor. However, after beating Lyoto Machida at UFC 123, Jackson again seems full focused on the task.

Unfortunately for Hamill, ‘Rampage’s strengths look like they might nullify Hamill’s. Jackson has phenomenal striking power and his takedown defence is second to none. He will keep tight hold of Hamill and punish the older man with his devasting power punches. I don’t see anyone other than Quinton Rampage Jackson winning this one. I expect a KO in Round 3 to be the end for Matt Hamill.
