Shane Roller showed off his wrestling chops with a first-round submission win over Anthony Njokuani at WEC: Aldo vs. Faber on Saturday night.

Roller, a three-time All-American at Oklahoma State, wasted no time in shooting in for a takedown. Njokuani worked to avoid to the takedown, but still ended up on the canvas. Roller put Njokuani in danger early, attempting a guillotine. After Njokuani got out of that choke attempt, Roller continued to control the bout and sunk in the rear naked choke, causing Njokuani to tap at 3:07 in the first round.

This is Roller’s third straight win since he was knocked out more than a year ago by Ben Henderson. Njokuani, who was hoping to earn a title shot with a win tonight, suffered his first loss since January of 2009. Interestingly, his loss was also to Henderson.
