Hardy can be a champ says White

An interesting conversation developed in the face of all the negativity about Georges St. Pierre’s performance at UFC 111. Even though he’d lost by a combined 150-132 on the scorecards, Hardy was being propped up as a potentially great fighter. Was that Dana White just trying to quell the GSP criticism or an attempt to appease the record number of British media members on hand for a U.K. fighter’s match on U.S. soil? Probably, a little of both.

After hearing White say Hardy could be a champion in the future, USA Today’s Beau Dure had had enough asking, “What did do he beyond survive?” It was a great question.

The response throughout the postfight presser was that all Hardy needs to do is work on his takedown defense. That’s a pretty big hole to close. He’s also got to work on his defense on the ground. GSP did whatever he wanted on the mat and had it not been for Hardy’s flexibility and off-the-charts toughness, he could’ve been submitted a dozen times.
