The free agent drama of the summer is long gone and now Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic wants to concentrate on the future. During the UFC 103 teleconference, Cro Cop didn’t add much clarity on what happened in the DREAM versus UFC flap simply saying most of the reports were rumors that “had nothing to do with me.” Cro Cop sounded very fired up to face the growing roster of raw heavyweights in the UFC.

“The UFC heavyweight division is very hard at the moment. As MMA as a sport is spreading all around the world, new fighters are coming from different kind of sports and training.”

Cro Cop, who faces Junior Dos Santos next Saturday, said ultimately the goal is to get a shot at whoever holds the UFC heavyweight title:

“It’ll be tougher and tougher to take the belt. First, I want to be concentrating on my fight against Junior,” Cro Cop said he didn’t know who he’d face next. “If I take both of those fights, I believe the third will be the title shot.”

Cro Cop, still coming back from knee surgery at the start of the year, said he was able to get in his full 11-12 weeks training for the fight and that he continues to make progress in adjusting to the Octagon. He now has his own cage to train in at his home gym.
