The Case for Randy Couture
The sportsbooks have Couture as favorite for this and, let’s be honest, the odds makers are rarely wrong.
Beyond that, as a heavyweight MMA, Couture is one that favors his boxing and wrestling skills above anything else.
Like his opponent, ‘The Natural’ wants a shot at the title and, if he loses here, it’s just not going to happen. That makes for a very motivated Randy Couture.
Aside from boxing power, Couture has stamina and if he goes toe to toe with Nogueira, he should come out on top. As I said, he’s the betting favorite and that counts for a lot.
The Case for Nogueira
Antonio Nogueira is the more experienced of the two fighters and has better martial arts and submission skills. His Brazilian Ju-Jitsu is particularly good. And, as Nogueira fans will point out, he can box too.
If it goes to the floor, Nogueira will have the advantage and that’s what he’ll be looking for. It’s certainly going to be a tough fight for both men.
