Brock Lesnar vs Frank Mir Preview : Revenge?

The headlining championship bout will likely depend upon your perspective, but we’re going to start with the UFC Heavyweight Championship fight between title holder Brock Lesner and interim champ Frank Mir. Not only is this a title fight, it’s also a rematch, as Lesner faced Mir in his UFC debut back at UFC 81 in February 2008.
In that match Mir was the victor, winning by submission after locking Lesner into a kneebar 1:30 into the first round. However, up to that point in the match Lesner was in control, using his size and strength to get the advantage. Only by errantly leaving his leg vulnerable to Mir’s submission did he lose it and end up losing the fight.
A more experienced Lesner should be much more careful this time and avoid such a poor rookie mistake. That’s why Lesner is a -225 favorite at BetOnline on the UFC odds in the rematch, while Mir clocks in at +190 at BetUS.
BROCK LESNAR v FRANK MIR PICK
Most people feel that Lesnar was unlucky to lose the first fight and that his superior ground and pound technique will see him through this one.
I’m going to stick my neck out, however, and pick Mir to win this one. A lot of commentators seem to be ignoring the fact that Mir will have learnt something from the first fight too and he definitely has better grappling and submission skills than Lesnar.
I doubt the fight will remain standing, and I can see Mir winning by submission.
